Risell Ventura

Risell Ventura was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. Risell moved to The United States when she was 16 years-old on the pursuit of becoming a journalist.

She studied at The Pennsylvania State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in December 2020 with a degree in broadcast journalism, with minors in psychology and sociology.

Before arriving to Nebraska, she completed a summer internship with SSPTV Channel 13 in Hazleton, Pa. She was also the video editor for “Rally On Media”, a digital storyteller company in New York City.

Risell is a SPJ award winning journalist for Immersion Journalism. She is passionate about talking to people and hearing what they have to say. Risell says, “Everyone has a story that deserves to be shared with the world. I strongly believe in the power of journalism to give a voice to the voiceless. That’s why it is my duty as a journalist to do my best to contribute in this way to the world.”

In her free time, Risell enjoys working out and binge watch comedy and horror shows on Netflix and Hulu. She also enjoys creating content for her YouTube channel “Risell Ventura”, which is based on talking to people willing to share a story with the camera.
