Steve White is Bureau Chief of our Grand Island Newsroom, overseeing our coverage of the community. He is also co-host of NTV's Grow, our weekly farm and ranch program.
He has also covered several political campaigns and has extensive experience covering the State Capitol, working with three governors and countless state senators.
He routinely covers agricultural news, and often presents the Farm Youth and Farm Family of the Month segments. In addition, Steve is NTV's go-to reporter for all things related to the Nebraska State Fair.
Steve was born in Iowa, but grew in South Dakota and graduated from South Dakota State University, but also grew up a Husker fan because his dad went to grad school at the University of Nebraska.
Steve loves the daily challenges of developing stories. Steve started his career in college, working on the air for the campus radio and television stations. He also worked as an on-air intern in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He also enjoys working with our staff of reporters, helping train and guide them.
Family comes first, for Steve and his wife Sara who live in Grand Island with their three children. They are active in the community, serving on boards and volunteering with many organizations, and trying to keep up with three young kids.
Honors include dozens of Associated Press and Nebraska Broadcasters Association awards, Nebraska Sorghum Board industry award, Nebraska Corn Board media award, Nebraska FFA distinguished service award, Grand Island Chamber of Commerce Top 35 Under 35, Community Police Academy graduate; and in 2015, Steve was named an “admiral” in the Nebraska Navy by Gov. Dave Heineman.
